Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker Preview: Awesome Is Spelled KOJIMA

Well first things first. Allow me to tuck my chubby into the waste-band of my shorts..ok we're good. Where do we even BEING. If anyone here is a Metal Gear Fan, as Eminem would say "Please Stand Up." Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is the fifth installment of the Metal Gear franchise to hit the PlayStation Portable System. I could go into all the flat out AMAZING Metal Gear games in the series history, but we might be here all night if I took that journey, so I'll save you some time. But assuming you played Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots on PS3 (and for all you n00bs who didn't) it was a MASTERPIECE of a game. You already know that Hideo Kojima doesn't disappoint his fans, and when he is the lead writer of a game you know it's going to be top notch.

Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker takes place in 1974 ten years after Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, and four years after Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops. Peace Walker is set in Costa Rica and shows the rise of the Outer Heaven. The plot is similar to other Metal Gear games. Yet still with complex elements and enough new material to keep any gamer satisfied. A nameless unknown army of assholes with BAG's (Big Ass Guns) decides to take over the defenseless country of Costa Rica (congratz). These pricks bring with them a nuclear warhead with the title "Peace Walker" on it (a little hypocritical don't ya think) to detonate and show the world their POWER. Big Boss (also known as Naked Snake) is asked to save Costa Rica with his Soldiers Without Borders. We find out that the previously unknown army *SPOILER* is actually a rogue CIA unit (the one video game where the United States is bad). Big Boss realizes this and understands that if he decides to fight them he will become an enemy of the United States; causing the balance of power between the West and East parts of the world to clash. The game will feature real events that took place during the Cold War.

As far as the game itself goes, it is said that Peace Walker will have around 45 hours of gameplay. So say goodbye to your friends and family for a few days and get enough bottled water and snacks to hold you over. Also Peace Walker has two-four player co-op allowing you to kick ass with your friends, as seen in this gameply trailer. Sony is set to release Peace Walker on June 8th and has even designed a PSP-3000 bundle to go along with it. For 200 bucks you get a camouflage PSP system, Peace Walker, a free Playstation Network movie voucher and a 4GB memory card. That all is needless to say, freakin sweet. So as you can tell I'm just a little excited for this game. For all you Metal Gear fans this game looks like a MUST OWN. But until June 8th sit tight and replay your old Metal Gear games and be sure to check back in a month for our full written review.
