New God of War Game Announced for PSP

For those of you who obtained the platinum trophy in God of War III (one of the greatest single player games I've ever experienced). Then you were given the link to the website Spartans Stand Tall. For a couple of weeks we all waited IMPATIENTLY for Santa Monica Studios to tell us just what the hell the site was for. Right when the website was discovered it showed a quarter filled "meter" in the top right corner and what appeared to be rain falling behind a dark skyline. For a few weeks we all speculated on what the site could be. Eventually it began to rain harder and you could somewhat notice the outlined shape of a person in the water. Well after long debates and frustrating days of deciphering what the website could mean, we finally have our answer.

Last week (May 4th) the meter was filled and now the site reveals the new God of War game in the franchise, God of War: Ghost of Sparta. This title is for the PSP and PSP Go. It is the second installment of God of War to come to the PSP (God of War: Chains of Olympus). Santa Monica and Ready at Dawn Studios (who developed the first PSP GOW game) are set to head the project. Chains of Olympus served as a prequel to the critically acclaimed 2005 PS2 game God of War. During this time Kratos served the Gods for ten years in order to relieve him of his nightmares. Ghost of Sparta takes place between God of War and God of War 2 (right after Kratos kills Ares in the first GOW). This new campaign for Kratos will explain how he got his famous tattoo and scar, but most importantly show his journey from a mortal to the God of War. The game will also explain how Kratos became known as "The Last Spartan." The developers said that Ghost of Sparta will have more enemies on the screen and 25% more gameplay than Chains of Olympus.

This is all the information on the game we have now. I absolutely LOVE everything about the God of War franchise. I'll be picking this game up at midnight (no release date revealed yet though) when it comes out. At E3 we can expect to see some extraordinary gameplay and more details about the game. Until then check out these screen shots and stay tuned for more information!
