Retail giant GamesStop (who just put competitor Game Crazy out of business) posts huge financial earnings over the first quarter of this year (ended May 1st). GameStop broke the $2 billion mark in sales these last few months. That's up 5.1% from the previous years. GameStop's software sales were up 13% while their total earnings were up 14%.
Yes we all know designers and publishers HATE GameStop because they sell their used games and make profits on them (while the designers and publishers get $0). But as consumers we should LOVE good ol' GameStop. When you have old games, or even newer ones (Halo:ODST) sitting around just collecting dust, who else will take them? GameStop of course. Yes they rip us off on trade-in prices, but some store credit towards another game is better than nothing (and a genius idea).
GameStop will look to continue their dominance as the number one game retailer. Don't expect them to take a back seat to anyone. Seeing as EVERYONE pre-orders games and even buys used ones, GameStop has no worries.
